𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗶 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 was one of the regular home ports for our CTVs, when we were supporting the construction of the offshore wind farms in Taiwan. This time round, we were visiting Budai for another reason – planting trees to provide a safe and sheltered habitat for migratory birds which come to Taiwan from afar, during winter season.

On 27th May, in collaboration with Taiwan Environmental Information Association (TEIA), the entire team at PKR Offshore Co., Ltd. travelled down from our offices at Taipei and Taichung and traded our laptops for spades and shovels for this meaningful activity at Budai, Chiayi. Though the weather was relatively cool on that day, many of us were still visibly sweating under the high humidity but the satisfaction of completing the target of planting all 40 trees before the allocated time was great! Most importantly, we have now gained a better understanding of the importance of ecological conservation and protecting the global biodiversity.

Our 2nd stop was at 白水湖壽島 where the oyster farming industry in Chiayi has flourished due to its superior water and terrain conditions. While learning more about the different methods of growing the oysters here, we also took the opportunity to walk on the embankment that separated the land and the sea, where the coastal view was amazing and even spotted the offshore wind turbines spinning in the distance!
